Don’t believe the stereotype of Generation Z as young people who spend all their time partying, posing for pictures, and wasting hours scrolling through social media. Some have realized they can harness the power of technology and social media to learn new skills and ultimately make themselves streams of revenue. — Cesar Cervantes falls into the second category.
The 19-year-old might still be a student, but he’s already earning six figures after starting his own e-commerce business. Now, he’s growing his empire and wealth further by helping other companies to get online and achieve similar results.
Along with his team, Cervantes builds professional sites that consistently bring in high traffic and scales the businesses further using TikTok ads. With a little time for studying and socializing on the side, of course.
So, how did the Los Angeles -born founder get to where he is today? The answer isn’t a rich family or freakish good luck.
Humble beginnings
Cervantes was still in high school when he started his ecommerce journey. He found out about dropshipping through the internet and decided to start his own online store, focusing on buying cheap items from China and selling them for higher prices to make a profit.
Then, it was easy enough to scale the operation by reinvesting the bulk of profits back into the business — enabling the entrepreneur to buy even more products to sell on. Soon enough, Cervantes’ business was achieving growth far beyond his expectations, so he moved into creating multiple automated stores.
When he turned 19 years old, the student was already making more than $10,000 a month through his ventures. Between May and June 2020, his businesses pulled in a combined $12,441 across 701 orders.
Now, he sometimes makes more than $10,000 in a single day.
Considering this taste of success, it might be surprising to some that Cervantes still had the inclination to attend college. But the founder valued education, so he opted to pursue a business and marketing degree at Cal State Northridge.
Gaining traction fast
The only disadvantage to earning a six-figure salary before you’ve even graduated from college is knowing where to go next. But Cervantes wasn’t about to sit back and take things easy — instead, he decided to move away from dropshipping and toward helping others. That’s when he started an E-Commerce team firm to help others replicate his results, along with peers he met along his journey that shared his vision.
So far, the firm has helped multiple businesses reach success — from local shop owners to small businesses that want to get online for the first time. With the help of Cervantes and his team, these companies have reached not hundreds or even thousands of new customers.
Unlike other companies, E-commerce firms have a team that consists of people with different skill sets, which increases efficiency and ensures that all operations are handled to a high standard, from marketing to web development to social media.
Cervantes believes that what has helped him achieve what he has so far all comes down to his dedication to professionalism and a focus on delivering high-quality results.
“Our goal was to make every website look as professional as possible to attract the right audience. In the future, we want to continue building struggling and known companies so they can be where they want to be,” says the entrepreneur.
So, how does TikTok fit into this?
Harnessing social media to achieve results
If there’s one thing that Generation Z can do better than just about everyone, it’s using social media. But, as Cervantes and his ilk know, there’s more to these social networks than making yourself look cool.
TikTok has played an important role in Cervantes’ strategy to spread the word about the businesses he works with.
Why TikTok? It’s no secret that sites like Facebook and Instagram are effective at advertising, but given how new TikTok is on the scene, the adverts on the platform are relatively underpriced compared to its competitors. This makes it possible to get great results for a smaller budget.
And once the short TikTok ads capture the attention of the right people, the team can funnel these leads to the professionally-made websites of the companies and prompt them to make a purchase or an inquiry.
The team has achieved some impressive results this way, with some clients managing 463 clicks in seven days for a spend of just 61.79.
